Our home base will be the Narasoma Retreat Centre, nestled in the heart of Ubud, the cultural capital of the island of Bali. Inside the center the environment is natural, peaceful and meditative. When you step outside the center walls you have easy access to the great shopping, dining and cultural offerings of the bustling town. How much of the retreat schedule you participate in is up to you!

Every day you will have the chance to…

  • practice Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga in a gorgeous open-air, rooftop yoga studio (all levels – beginners welcome!)
  • enjoy breakfast at the Narasoma Tea House, including extracted juices and traditional Balinese coffee and tea 
  • help Chef Prakash prepare a delicious lunch made from local organic produce, and using Ayurvedic cooking techniques and spices (What makes Ayurvedic food special?)
  • enjoy your lunch!
  • learn the principles of Ayurveda and how to better integrate them into all aspects of your life 
  • explore Ubud’s vibrant dining scene for your dinner, including some of the most innovative vegetarian and vegan restaurants in the world (not included in retreat package)
  • luxuriate in Narasoma’s swimming pool, relax in the Meditation Cave, or take advantage of Narasoma’s spa facilities (spa treatments not included)

No previous experience in Ashtanga Yoga,  Ayurvedic cooking or Ayurveda studies is necessary to join this retreat. Please note that all of the food we prepare will be vegan and gluten-free.

Your Retreat Leaders

David Rogers

David Rogers

David Rogers will introduce you to the Ashtanga Yoga system if you have not practiced it before. If you are already an Ashtangi you will practice as normal, under David’s watchful eye. David is KPJAYI-Authorized, and has been teaching yoga in the United States and Southeast Asia since 2002. He is currently assisting at The Yoga Shala Singapore and Art of Yoga (Singapore). David holds a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management from Cornell University, as well as a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from eCornell. He has trained in Ayurvedic cooking with Chef Jagadappa, and recently founded a Sattvic food service in Portland, OR. Click here for more info about David.

Chef Prakash Jagadappa

Chef Prakash Jagadappa

Chef Prakash Jagadappa will introduce you to the ingredients and techniques that are critical for preparing truly Sattvic food – that is, food good for all doshas (perfect for cooking for a family, or a group). He will also provide insight into adjusting your recipes for individual constitutions, for when you are cooking just for yourself. Prakash grew up in a traditional family in the Indian state of Maharastra, where Ayurvedic food practices were part of his early family life. As a young man, Prakash cooked for a temple in Mumbai. For the last 20 years, he has cooked Ayurvedic food professionally in Australia and the United States. Click here for more info about Chef Jagadappa.

Emily Glaser

Emily Glaser

Emily Glaser makes Ayurvedic concepts both accessible and practical. After earning both nursing and culinary degrees, Emily began her studies in Ayurveda with Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico. She graduated from the Institute in 2009 and spent six months training at the Vaidyagrama-Ayurvedic Healing Village in southern India, under the direction of chief physician Dr. Ramadas. Emily currently teaches the sciences of Ayurveda and Jyotisha internationally and is co-founder (with Chef Jagadappa) of Agni Ayurveda in Santa Fe, New Mexico. For more info about Emily, click here.

What’s included in the retreat price?

  • Transfer from Denpasar International Airport to Narasoma Retreat Centre
  • 6 nights lodging at Narasoma Retreat Centre
  • 2 meals daily for each full day of the retreat (breakfast and lunch)

  • Airfare to Denpasar International Airport
  • Return airport transfer (we can help you arrange it)
  • Trip insurance (suggested)

Retreat Pricing

Make a $500 deposit now, and pay your balance of only $800 (Single) or $300 (Double) by September 15th.

This Early Bird offer ends August 15th.

Each room at the Narasoma Retreat Centre has two twin beds. If you would like the entire room to yourself your price will be US$1,800 (Single Occupancy). If you would like to share a room with another participant, the price is US$1,300 (Double Occupancy). If you are ready to book and can make a deposit by August 15, 2017, you will receive an EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT of US$500.



If you would like to have the Double Occupancy option we will place you with another retreat participant.

Terms & Conditions

By reserving your space with a deposit, you are agreeing to the stated policies in our Agreement, as outlined here.

Deposit & Payment Terms (per person)

Reserve your spot with a non-refundable $500 deposit per person plus a booking fee of $30. Payment should be made through the retreat website. Please note the booking fee does not count toward your final balance. On September 15th the final balance will be charged to the credit card on file. If full payment is not received by September 15th we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and fill your spot. We will make every effort to avoid this situation by contacting you prior to and on the day of the balance due date.
If you book your spot in the retreat after September 15th, you will be charged in full immediately – no deposit required.


  • Before September 15, $500… Balance payable by September 15th
  • After September 15… No deposit required (full payment charged)


  • Before September 15th… Full refund LESS the $500 deposit and LESS the $30 processing fee
  • After September 15th… No refunds allowed

Strict Cancellation Policy

If you wish to cancel your retreat you must notify us in writing by emailing If you made full payment before September 15th you will receive a refund, less the $500 deposit, and less the $30 processing fee. There is no refund of any payments made after September 15th. Exceptions to our cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather, terrorism, civil unrest, Zika virus, health changes, personal emergencies, or otherwise. There is no refund for arriving late or leaving the trip early. We recommend that you purchase trip insurance to protect your investment from these unforeseen circumstances on any international retreat.

Suggested Trip Insurance

Please note that Sattvic Retreats will not be held responsible for any delays, additional expense or inconvenience that may be caused directly or indirectly by events outside of our control (ie: late arrival/departure of flights, civil disturbance, fire, flood, cyclones, severe weather, acts of God, and acts of government, machinery or equipment failure, or cancellations for any reason). No refunds will be given for “no shows” or days not used resulting from the above or aforementioned.
